About sc renewable

The mini grid is contracted on a build operate and transfer (BOT) basis to a renewable energy company with experience is building hybrid energy grid systems. The power purchase agreement (PPA) will be signed between with the BOT company and the owned management company who bill consumers.
The renewable energy sources are solar, biogas and waste-to-energy. The solar energy generation utilise the expansive roof areas of the development, supplemented with panels on additional land set aside for this purpose. Biogas is from the sewerage and waste to energy from solid waste.
The mini-grid incorporates a biogas fired generator to provide redundant electricity supply for the critical installations and a liquid metal battery to store the surplus excess energy during sunlight hours and release to the mini-grid between sundown and morning.
The imperatives to create a renewable energy mini grid are environmental, technological, and economic. The solar cell, battery storage and waste to energy technologies are advancing rapidly and cost falling. Furthermore, energy cost in Kenya is some of the highest in the world at 0.2 US$ and the grid supplier is unreliable. The SC development provides the scale to make it economically feasible.
The objective of Ayedos to promote renewable energy by investing in solar, biogas and waste to energy technologies and to pass cost savings to the residents to reduce life cycle home ownership cost and safeguard the environment..
